Character survey
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
A inch or two under the average female height. She's got a slim frame, long limbs, and oh so messy black hair that she's kept in a bob cut for who knows how long. She has jade eyes, is described as having porcelain skin.
2. How old is she?
960's. She looks to be in her mid to late teens.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
Depends on the situation. In casual times she may have her shoulders slightly slouched but her back is straight and her head held either high or even. She's got a good sense of posture and even when she's goofing around there's still signs that she has some form of sense and grace.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Clean bill of health! She's also got more physical strength then a vampire not that she looks like at.
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
She's graceful and fluid. Her gestures even the silly ones are done with purpose and a sense of style and flair.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?
She's in damn good shape for someone whose over 900. As she does look younger she isn't perceived primarily as attractive. That and being a near god in an country tends to make the matter unimportant to her. She however must think fairly highly of herself as she'd describe herself as pretty.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
She's very fair skinned and there's not a single mark on her body.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
She has thick black hair that despite it looking unkempt and messy, is tangle free and nice and smooth. She's kept it in a bob cut for the last eight hundred or so years, before that she had a pixie cut.
9. What color are her eyes?
Green. If we're being specific, jade.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Aside from long legs or her eye color being somewhat different/brightly colored? Not really.
11. What are her chief tension centers?
Her shoulders.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
Everything. She owns countless dresses, outfits, all sorts of things. As empress her dresses are green in their base color decorated with gold, reds and blues. Her other outfits come in whites and blacks with red or gold accents. All of her outfits she never wears anything that goes to her knees and generally wears either knee-high boots or high-heels.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
They fit perfectly. She also doesn't wear things that she finds uncomfortable.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
Depends. As she is the empress a lot of her time she spends in the palace even if she's not doing anything she's still in her empress attire. If she's sneaking off into the terran district then she's wearing civilian clothing. Shorts and tee-shirts that are usually more muted in colors compared to her empress clothing.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Any. Doesn't matter to her.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
A little higher then the average female. She changes her pitch and tone around.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
Again this really depends. Normally she speaks by fluctuating her tone and pitch a lot. There are times when she drops all teasing. Then her tone is even, confident. She'll speak like someone whose got unshakable confidence and sometimes she laces it with sarcasm.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Nope. She speaks too many languages though so she might pronounce some of the words slightly different then what one may imagine.
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
Arabic, Turkish, Romanian, Hungarian, English, Latin, Russian, an older form of Egyptian, as well as some other middle-eastern and asian languages. Also Methuselate which is a language that exists solely in the Empire.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
She switches depending on the language of the person she's talking to. She'll also switch to some people to confuse them.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
Both. She's very good at working off the top of her head but there are times when she'd prefer to have the time to think about it.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Normally she's eloquent. She might pretend she isn't but she didn't live to her age without knowing how to address things properly. On the rare moment something comes up she doesn't know how to deal with though her words will fail her.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
No question of her being a genius. She's spent a life studying, learning, experiencing all that she can. She's smart in terms of scientific knowledge and some street smarts. Although she's pretty lacking in understand some human terms/slang and the more questionable behavior. Similarly she's not great when it comes to understanding emotions.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
In a perfect world she gets the time to think. She isn't bad at thinking on her feet but sometimes she overreacts or doesn't show an expected reaction which has caused her some trouble in the past. She doesn't like acting rashly.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Seth believes in logic, in science, in reasoning being behind everything. She wants to believe in a world that can be beautiful but not beyond reason. She is prone to thinking things through on a level that sometimes ignores human elements and emotions. She's practical by nature but there's a tiny sliver of a disappointed idealist left in her. She keeps that sliver safely locked up.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Actually all education received came from the scientists that created her or from studies while on Mars. She has zero formal education.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
Biology and machines are her areas of expertise. She's got a good head for studying botany on the side. She wouldn't mind studying psychology someday.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert. She loves people. She loves being around people and seeing their reactions. Due to her nature to want to plans things ahead of time and occasionally not understand peoples emotions, she does sometimes distance herself from people. However she is easily most content when she's in a group.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Seth is...almost anything. Her temperament changes because she's never the same person. Sometimes she has the love and patience of a mother. Sometimes she's short-tempered, goofy and immature. Most of the time she's always insightful and seems to carry a bit of concern for people. While she comes off as very nonchalant and handles events in stride, most of the time it's because she's already working on future plans in the back of her head.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
She approaches new situations and people without fear. Cheerful or teasing is pretty common unless something about the other person rubs her the wrong way. In that case she will have no problem being a sarcastic little troll to them.
9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?
React. (tl;dr to come later)
10. Which is her default: fight or flight?
Fight. (tl;dr to come later too)
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Her humor is shameless. She will make smart remarks about nudity, being inappropriate, and in general she has very few things she won't make a joke about. Similarly she doesn't mind most jokes. They're interesting and hey, she's old. She's heard them all before.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?
None confirmed in canon although by her age, with her life, she has...issues. She has trust issues. She has issues and fears of being alone. She doesn't address them. She's too busy protecting and running an Empire.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
-Meeting the other clones for the Red Mars Project
-Working on the Bacillus and the Crusnik
-Cain's death and ultimately her attempt to revive him with the Crusnik
-Injecting the crusnik into herself
-War with humanity, eventual loss in Paris to Lilith and humanity
-Lilith's death and Cain being dropped from the Ark
-Taking the Returners and leading them out to the barren lands that would become The Empire
-Becoming Empress Augusta Vradica
-Suleyman's rebellion
14. What does she fear?
She fears losing herself to the crusnik. Losing her Empire, her beloved children. She fears being left utterly alone in life. She fears failure.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
Curing the weakness of the methuselah, immortality, eventual war with the other countries and possibly ruling over them as well.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
That she's a Knightlord, one of those who killed millions centuries ago. The crusnik. She isn't fond of most people knowing who she is as both Seth and Augusta Vradica.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
She has no parents. She didn't like the scientists that looked after her before the colony. The closest person she had to a parent was Lilith who was like a big sister to her. She loved her but they ended up on opposite sides of things. She doesn't regret it though.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Cain Knightlord, Abel Nightroad and Lilith Sahl. Cain and Lilith were the two of whom she was closest to and the two of whom she misses dearly. Abel and her have always had a strained relationship. The feelings and love she has for him now is more of a by-product of time and being left alone to try and cover for all of the damage they did.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
Nope. Unless the re-animated corpse of your brother counts. She cannot stand Cain/01 and wants him dead.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
The Methuselah in the Empire. They're like her children and she loves them dearly. She will go to great lengths to protect the home she's made for them and would hunt down any who dares harm them.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Mirka Fortuna, her body double and the highest ranked noble in the Empire. When Mirka awoke at such an age that it was close to hers and they shared a similar appearance, she ended up trusting the young noble with bits and pieces of her past. Eventually the two would become friends. They are still empress and noble first.
6. Does she have other close friends?
A few various people she messed with when she played terran in the capital. Sadly she doesn't really count them anymore.
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
She can look like she makes friends easily. Trusting them is another issue entirely.
8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
Family. Family is always the most important. Friends can come and go but she doesn't believe you can ever replace your family.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
Single. Eternally single. She's gone on dates before but she's always considered herself too different to bother with an actual relationship.
10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope.
11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?
Her first crush was someone who worked under her on Mars. A smart guy, about five or so years older then her. He wasn't anything special really but he didn't hate her outright so that was enough to make him interesting. Her last crush was before she built the Empire, a Returner who had fiercely been devoted to her. She thought the other woman was endearing in her devotion but nothing came from that either.
12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
She doesn't look for anything. If she had looked for a romantic partner there's really only a few simple things she would want. She would want them to not fear her, don't hate her. She'd want their trust. She'd want to know she can trust them. She'd really want someone who can be her best friend and wouldn't mind if she gets a little clingy.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
Officially she has no children. In the Empire she's called the Mother of Methuselah. She loves and wants to protect her children. Children of her own are, to her, impossible because she has no desire to give birth. She'd rather not deal with that.
14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
Cain Knightlord and the Rosencruetz Orden. She wants them gone but since they're a small organization in a country out of her reach, she can't do too much to them and she hates it.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?
Solid 3. She can appreciate attractive people of any race, gender, species, whatever. It does not matter to her.
16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
Not important at all. She's gone nine-hundred years without it. She's messed around when she was younger but to her it seemed like a waste of time.
17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Aside from fluffy things? She likes a little roughness although she doesn't like to admit it. Nails on the back, a bit of biting, rough-handling, all of that stuff. Also theoretically she would also have a thing for being the one in charge and on top.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?
The only we know for sure is that she's born in the year of the horse. Although she places no faith in horoscopes. She thinks they're pointless, silly things that serve only to distract a person.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?
Neither. She believes only in the reality of the world they live in. To her there is no afterlife, there are no souls. There's only the here and now and a person must deal with life. This is greatly shown by the fact that the Empire has no religion whatsoever nor believes in the idea of souls or an afterlife.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Her morals are...questionable. She sees no problem in lying and breaks the laws that she sets up in the Empire. In fact she's a resounding hypocrite. She doesn't mind using people. She doesn't mind murdering people although this again proves her point as a hypocrite. She's removed nobles from her empire for attacking terrans before. So while in general she has created an Empire with a good sense of duty and morals, she rarely follows those .
4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
She mocks and teases people but she knows that everyone is free to believe what they want. In the end of the day she's indifferent. Someone wants to believe in a religion? Okay but don't expect her to buy into it.
5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?
She doesn't like the church. She's indifferent towards terrans. To her the terrans are lesser creatures that are meant to be below her and the methuselah. This is due in no small part to the fact that she and methuselah will live longer and she believes they can do greater and better things then any human can. She also grew up being hated by humans because she's a genetically enhanced clone. While she doesn't hate humans anymore she doesn't have much fondness for them. As for religion it's a far more simple matter. She believes in the absolute reality. She believes they should face what's in front of them not what is possibly above or below them.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
As far as anyone is concerned, she's rich. She's the Empress. She has a palace that's the size of the city. She has everything a person could want.
2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?
Again, empress. Before she was the empress she was a major in the united nations space program, where she was simply just a person who was not well-loved. Of course in the grand perspective of the world as the Empress, she's an unknown who the rest of the world doesn't seem to know how to approach.
3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
She lives in Byzantium in the Celestial Palace. The palace is the size of a city and she doesn't quite live alone. The palace guards are always within the halls and there's times nobles come in and out for meetings, as well as the existence of the assembly hall. She also owns a home in the terran district although that's just a place to crash when she wants to play human.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?
Tea, tailoring and creating new outfits. In general though she doesn't spend much money on herself.
5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
Runs the Empire. When she plays human though she's a tea seller because she loves tea and she loves being able to be among the people so freely.
6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?
All things related to biology, machines and botany. She likes studying animals, climbing trees, going out and watching the sea, really anything that allows her to roam through the city and indulge in simple joys are a thing of wonder to her.
7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
She always has tea with her meals and her meals tend to be freshly made and consist of a lot of spices. She will never drink alcohol (it's contraband) and she has no problem skipping meals. She doesn't need to eat as frequently as humans do although she might pretend like she does.
